Book 50: Bright Side

By: Kim Holden

☆☆☆☆

Bright Side #1

Plot (Goodreads Summary):

Secrets. Everyone has one. Some are bigger than others. And when secrets are revealed, some will heal you… And some will end you. Kate Sedgwick’s life has been anything but typical. She’s endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there’s a reason her best friend Gus calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong-willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She’s also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with Keller Banks. They both feel it. But they each have a reason to fight it. They each have a secret. And when secrets are revealed, some will heal you… And some will end you.

Review:

So much happens in this book. I have some notes. This is the first I have ever taken real notes on a book. Before that, I would first like to point out that is very little romance and more about Kate’s life then about Kate and Keller.

“I find myself trying to math her smile,” (Holden 9). This is what the author is trying to do with us. She wants us to be optimistic like Kate.

They say dude so much in this book. And I don’t know if Kim Holden has ever lived in California, and maybe she has, I don’t know, but all of the stereotypes that are represented just aren’t true. I have lived in California for almost all of my life. The stereotypes aren’t real except for like one person. The rich snobby part is true if you live in Southern California. But to be fair, the bad driving part is true. I know first hand.

I thought it was cool how my family lives in San Diego and that’s where she lived. Funny.

Also in chapter 9, Keller talks about her appearance but he talks about in a way that represents her personality.

Keller has lines. That’s all I have to say. Just kidding; he got more than that. He has been through so much crap in his life and I couldn’t bare to go through what he has. For all of the people who are thinking about reading this book, there’s a huge spoiler in the next part. I also want to reiterate that my blog says that my reviews contain spoilers, if you even want to consider reading the book, don’t read the book. Read the book then the review. What I want to know, is will he find love again? I seriously don’t know how someone that happy, die.

Blogger’s Note:

I made the basketball team! Tryouts were Friday, Monday, and Tuesday. I made it on the team! I am so excited. I have practice everyday of this week. And two games every week along with at least two practices every week.

I have not been writing my book. I have writer’s block. Only for this chapter though. I know
